Our Teaching Philosophy
We acknowledge that children belong first to a family. We believe in working in collaboration with our families to create a happy, safe and enriching environment, that nurtures the development of the whole child.
Through respectful, positive partnerships with families, we can shape children’s learning and development, fostering their confidence and creating a love for learning. We recognise that every child, regardless of age, gender, ability, culture or religion is an individual, equally deserving care and attention. We are committed to equity and believe in all children’s capacities to succeed. We acknowledge and respect our children’s diverse backgrounds through celebrating occasions with both our families and the local community. We believe in providing an inclusive, high-quality, early years program in which every child feels welcomed and valued. We view children as capable, competent, co-contributors and acknowledge them as active participants in their own learning. We value the importance of offering a balanced program that continually builds on the children’s interests, through child-initiated learning and intentional teaching practices. We recognise the benefits of having strong ties to our local community, which is reflected in our curriculum. Our educators are responsive to children’s ideas and play, which form an important basis for curriculum decision-making. Each child is encouraged to discover, create, improvise and imagine when engaging in activities. The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), guides our curriculum practices, which allows for flexibility to accommodate each child’s individual interests, differences and stages of development – Belonging, Being and Becoming. We value a strong team approach showing trust, respect and support for each other. We believe in promoting a team environment where reflective practices are viewed as healthy discussions. We pride ourselves on continually evolving and improving our practices, as new research emerges. We believe by providing a warm, nurturing environment and a quality, well planned program, each child’s learning will blossom and evolve. |
